Who We Are
The vision of the Shelterwood Collective borrows roots from the forestry term shelterwood—a method of regeneration involving thoughtfully preserving mature trees to create a canopy under which new growth has the opportunity to flourish.
Our mission is to cultivate whole person healing for collective well-being. We exist to foster social change through cooperative and reciprocal models for work and life. Vitality, courage, and integrity are our core values.
We are rooted in a commitment to restoration, sustainability, and new life. Our work begins with our practitioner collective and extends out to the individuals, couples, families, and communities we nurture, support, and advocate for.
Presence
We believe in the power of showing up, paying attention, and listening deeply.
Compassion
We believe in accessible, safe, non-judgmental spaces to cultivate radical love.
Community
We believe genuine connection is at the core of individual and collective healing.
Wisdom
We believe in honoring the wisdom of our bodies, Spirit, the earth, and those who have gone before us.
Justice
We believe no one is truly free until we are all free.
Restoration
We believe living systems and beings are designed to regenerate when honored and nurtured.
Shelterwood Collective was founded in 2011 by Nicole Greenwald and Bethanne Kinmonth. They shared a vision for a grassroots therapy and wellness collective rooted in community, beauty, soulfulness, and sustainability. What began as a thoughtful shared space for therapists to practice in community has grown into a network of healing practitioners and wellness professionals across the state of Washington. We are now supported by a small team.
