Nourish: Anti-Inflammatory Meal for Healers

  • Shelterwood Collective 108 South Jackson Street Seattle, WA, 98104 United States (map)

Receive nourishment, savor delicious food, and enjoy good company with fellow practitioner-members. An anti-inflammatory meal for Healers to receive nourishment from delicious dishes, and good company amongst fellow practitioners who are members of the Shelterwood Collective.

We are honored to share this special, communal meal hosted by Jenny Gerow and prepared by Chef Jessie Wang.

The purpose of this meal is to provide our bodies a chance to receive and recharge after the hectic start to the new year. To reconnect with ourselves and to reconnect with one another.

Turmeric was chosen as the main spice in order to cleanse and reset our bodies. Every ingredient used to prepare this meal is seasonal and nutrient dense — many of them also contain antioxidant and anti-inflammation properties. T

This meal is also vegan friendly.

Before we partake in this incredible meal, Chef Jessie will give us an explanation of the anti-inflammatory qualities of each dish. Then we will all gather for a family style meal and enjoy the nourishment of what Chef Jessie has prepared.

RSVP

The cost of this meal is $35 to cover the organic ingredients and careful preparation.
We have space for 14-18 to allow for an intimate, conversational meal.
Kindly RSVP by Monday, February 20 so Chef Jessie can prepare accordingly.

Chef Jessie Wang

My name is Jessie Wang and I am on my journey to become a professional chef. I graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in winter of 2021 with a degree in Environmental Management and minor is Sustainability Studies with a concentration in food. I relocated to Seattle last June and started my professional culinary journey at one of Tom Douglas's restaurants, Lola. I am currently a line cook, but I am advancing up the professional world rapidly. I have been cooking privately for a decade and was a professional caterer for six years.

My background is East Asian, however, I am very adventurous and inquisitive. I love learning about food, cooking techniques, and cultures from all around the world. I believe in the notion that food is the bridge between people, cultures, and connections. Food is one of the most common languages that we speak around the world and an incredible tool to tap into people’s lives.

I am deeply passionate about what food could do to the human body and their souls. My enthusiasm for Eastern medicine combined with my education has helped me navigate and learn more of the healing properties of what food can provide. However, ultimately, what I would love to do with food is to bring comfort and healing to the body, mind, and soul.

Jenny Gerow

I live and breathe adventure. I spend a lot of time outdoors, wandering around in nature. I have also spent a lot of time competing in endurance sports, specifically in triathlon, mountain bike racing, and trail running. I am tough and tender.

I am a therapist and fellow Shelterwood Collective member. I am excited to co-facilitate this gathering with Chef Jessie.
