Embodied Wisdom is our seasonal rhythm of communal, holistic learning. The belief that our need for human connection is enduring shapes these gatherings. Our intent is to create intention space for inspiration, connection, deepening, and activation in service of collective healing.
Over the course of the year we will gathering around four themes: trust, bias, nuance, and dread/generativity.
Our December gathering will focus on Bias & Compassion — how do we see? what do we not want to see? how do we become more aware of what we miss (our unconscious bias)? what is the role of compassion in seeing well and acting thoughtfully?
An interdisciplinary panel, featuring Marcia Wright-Soika, Kristen Gilfillan, and Kaleb Sinclair, will open our gathering with a collaborative, profoundly-human dialogue. Following the panel the community that gathers will turn toward each other as learning partners in conversation circles. Then we’ll reconvene as a full group for questions, reflections, and collective action.
This gathering is for healers, practitioners, facilitators, educators, creatives, and community builders.
We will gather at Shelterwood Collective in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. This will be a hybrid offering with facilitation provided for members joining from a distance. 2.5 continuing education units are included.
We are honored to feel, learn, and co-create in community with you.

Marcia Wright-Soika, MBA
Hi, I'm Marcia (she/her). I am drawn to this conversation because I think the world around us forces us in many ways to become numb to human suffering, but I believe our collective thriving is only possible through radical compassion and care. My work is as a nonprofit executive director of a Seattle-based organization FamilyWorks. FamilyWorks is focused on partnering with families furthest from justice to alleviate food insecurity and ensure they have resources and support to overcome systemic barriers to equity, build stable communities, and thrive. I am informed by the voices of the families I serve, who are my North Star, teachers, and guides through the choices I make each day for our organization, for my personal advocacy, and the ways these actions impact our intertwined liberation.

Kristen Gilfillan, MA
Hi, I’m Kristen (she/her) - I am drawn to this conversation because I value honest connection and belonging, and I know deeply how the biases that we do not tend to will often impede our ability to be fully with our selves and/or others. My work is currently shifting; in the recent past, I have worked in inpatient psychiatry, and had a private practice working with women in larger bodies. I am shaped by generous & prophetic fat women who’ve paved roads I now walk on freely, as well as playful irreverence, beauty, toddlers, celebration, truth tellers, and a deep and abiding love for chips & queso.
Kaleb Sinclair, MA
Hi, I'm Kaleb (he, him). I am drawn to this conversation because as a society we often struggle to comprehend
and utilize compassion in our daily lives. We walk the same streets, inhabit proximal spaces and yet we rarely stop to recognize our communal suffering that seeks to connect us all. My work as a private practice therapist attempts to grapple with and illuminate invisible wounds that cause suffering through a co-creative empathy centered approach. Inviting all who have been wounded but beckoning to Black and Brown folx in particular. I am informed by elders/mentors those that have come before me, have walked with me amidst invisible wounds, and those who broke chains generations ago so that I might reach for the stars. I am a product of my family, friends, the earth, and Black culture.
