Mental Health Therapist

Whatever circumstances of life brought you here, I commend you for searching for a different way of approaching what pains you. I am committed to journeying alongside you as a consistent and warm guide as you tune into your inner world, understand the “why“ of your behaviors, and practice intentionally choosing authentic pathways in life.

My name is Katherine and I am a Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington and received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest University. I receive regular supervision from Smruti Desai, LPC, LMHC, as well as continually invest in my professional and personal development through continuing education and personal therapy. It is my highest privilege that I am able to hold space for you to grieve and process experiences, as well as encourage you to grow without limit.

I take special interest in working with folks with complex, interpersonal trauma, adults with emotionally immature parents, and adult children of immigrant families. I also work with couples who are entangled in painful relational patterns stemming from attachment wounds. The research shows early developmental experiences defined by emotional volatility or neglect can lead to numerous impacts later in life, including but not limited to persistent internal shame and depression, fear of abandonment even in your most “stable” relationships, difficulty expressing your emotions, and even physical ailments

I practice therapy primarily from a psychodynamic, relational approach informed by neuroscience and several therapy modalities including Internal Family Systems therapy, narrative therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of therapy to help process your pain and move towards what serves you, and the research backs it up. Believe in your capacity to grow bigger than you can possibly imagine.
