Couples Therapist & Certified Sex Therapist

Being a Therapist is my Passion

My offering to clients is rooted in my desire to learn and master theories and concepts that aid in healing. This work is also very personal to me, because it provides a constant opportunity for me to reflect on my own life and relationships. It is a privilege and inspiration to observe my clients' lives, learn from their discoveries, and reflect their growth back to them! If you are considering working with me, I am honored.

Couples Therapy

The Developmental Model is a well-respected and award winning approach to couples therapy, and I am a Graduate of The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy Training under Ellyn Bader Ph.D. at The Couples Institute.

More importantly, I have seen the concepts of this model create change very quickly in my client's relationships (I also use these concepts in my own relationships). I will guide you in reflecting on your stage of development, identifying ways to bring your authentic self to the relationship, and learning how to experience empathy with your partner.

You will hear much more about this model if you work with me, but in a nutshell, we will

  • Work with the stages of Differentiation in your relationship to combat “walking on eggshells”, feeling like you always give in or collapse into what your partner wants, living in silos away from each other, or constantly being in conflict

  • Use Attachment theory to re-create feeling welcome in your relationship, without constant stalemates or rugged individualism

  • Practice experiential methods based in Neuroscience to help you tolerate or better understand the triggers in your relationship

The Developmental Model lends itself to many tools that you will have access to after our first session.

Sex Therapy

Sexuality is an undeniable piece of the human experience. It is yours to define. And I am here to support you in this and the pursuit of pleasure.

Becoming a Certified Sex Therapist gave me the opportunity to understand human development from a sexual lens. I was required (and very much enjoyed) the study of how the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual intersect our sexuality throughout the life cycle in this day & age. Whether you are seeking therapy for this explicit purpose or want to work with a therapist who will not avoid the topic, I'm here for you.

I enjoy working with clients looking for support with any of the following concerns:

  • Sexual health concerns, such as Pelvic Pain, Erectile Dysfunction, Vaginismus, Anorgasmia, etc.

  • Conflicting Desire in Relationships

  • Changes in Sexual Desire or Sexual Drive

  • Sexual Trauma

  • Sexual Shame (religious or otherwise)

  • Marginalization due to sexual, romantic, or gender identity

I am kink, poly, & gender affirming.

About Me

I was raised in the Pacific Northwest and have lived in Seattle since 2003. My previous career spanned 11 years in Healthcare Administration - long term care, hospice, and occupational medicine. In the spring and summer, I am a native plant fanatic and prefer spending my days either doing yardwork or sitting in the shade reading and throwing the ball for my dog. Come winter, I am diving into food science, cooking, baking and riffing on my favorite food author's cookbooks. Year round, my husband and I make lists of home improvement projects and slowly realize our dreams inside and out.

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
