Somatic Psychotherapist (Core Energetics)

I deeply believe in the power of therapeutic work. Somatic-oriented healing modalities have had a profound effect on my own life and I am grateful to share this with others. This work is transformational, grounding, and healing for our body, our emotions, our thinking patterns, our behaviors, and our spirit.

I work with individuals and couples who are dealing with anxiety, trauma, issues surrounding sexuality, shame, infidelity, and/or life transitions, and are searching to understand the blocks that are holding them back and to navigate life with freedom. I also have a particular interest in working with women who are becoming pregnant, currently pregnant, or are experiencing trauma from their birthing experience.

I believe we are all cyclical beings. We see the cycle of life, death, and rebirth  everywhere-–in the earth’s seasons, in the phases of the moon, in our gardens, and in our breath cycles. This process of building up towards a peak of growth and fullness and then waning down towards darkness allows for rebirth and is a fundamental piece of what it means to be human. As we navigate these cycles, we develop both healthy and unhealthy patterns and rhythms that guide our lives. We create these patterns, both consciously and sometimes unconsciously, from a combination of influences from our internal worlds as well as our environment.

Relationships, experiences, and trauma can all impact our ways of being on a deep level and these patterns can both enhance and limit our lives. In therapy, we are able to check in with the body, the mind, and our patterns to interrupt our less adaptive cyclical ways of thinking. In the current overstimulated, disconnected and productivity-driven world, listening to and honoring the truth of our own bodies is an essential form of activism.

Therapy can be such a gift in cultivating a practice of presence with our bodies as almost an act of rebellion; purposefully working against a patriarchal mentality that has embedded the belief that slowing down is a shameful disadvantage. When we work in partnership with a safe witness to take inventory of ourselves, develop safety within our bodies, and engage with  the parts of ourselves left unheard or underdeveloped, we create a space of authentic self-care and reflection. I’m a certified yoga instructor, doula, therapist-in-training, and wellness entrepreneur, who’s invested in helping you break your habitual patterns that no longer serve you while strengthening the ones that do. Simply put, I help you feel more like yourself. I have been trained in psychodynamic therapy, somatic experiencing, internal family systems, and yoga/embodiment practices at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Previously, I studied at the Pranayoga Institute and Cornerstone Midwifery Training, all of which taught me how to use the mind, body, and soul to unblock beliefs that limit us in our day-to-day lives. We all go through seasonal changes in our environments, in our emotions, and in our bodies.

Originally from the Midwest, I have historically been bi-coastal, visiting family across the states who have immigrated here from Greece. I’ve made my way to the West Coast to follow my love for hiking, yoga, and delicious coffee. Outside of therapy, I am a yoga instructor, doula, and consider myself a multi-creative. I love singing, painting, taking an impromptu road trip, or cooking Greek cuisine.
