Elizabeth Chung, LICSW
Psychotherapist
(she/her)
As a second generation Asian American cisgender female, I understand the plethora of should be’s or supposed to’s that can accompany, or even dictate our lives because of the identities we hold. I strive to create a space where learning about yourself intersects with unlearning what the world around you has told you about yourself. You are not a product of societal norms, rather a collection of your lived experiences.
I believe therapy should be fun, not a chore or just another task on your to-do list. What that looks like is a collaborative effort that you get to lead, and a space where you grant yourself permission to be unapologetically your whole and genuine self. To this I say, let’s go on an adventure together in your journey of self exploration. Along the way we can leave behind the things that no longer serve you and work towards picking up some of the things that interest you.
I draw on a variety of approaches and theories including: cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, psychodynamic, and acceptance and commitment therapy. In this approach I believe in working towards a greater understanding of self to allow for growth, healing, and an improved quality of life.
I hold a Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Welfare from the University of Washington. I have worked with children and adults across the whole lifespan in community agencies, state agencies, and inpatient and outpatient settings. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington State, credential LW61471761.
