Jane M Ryan, LMFT, CST
Psychotherapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, AAMFT Approved Supervisor
My name is Jane Ryan (she/her) and I have been a therapist since 1999. My clinical focus for the last 10 years has been on intimate relationships and sexuality. I focus on helping clients explore all the systems, narratives, beliefs and experiences that have become harmful obstacles to living from an empowered, authentic, erotic, creative, and liberated self. More specifically, I help clients recover from religious trauma and purity culture experiences which have denied them these explorations and connections to their authentic self and empowered sexuality.
In my practice, I strive to create a sacred container for clients to ask the questions, tell the stories, deconstruct narratives that no longer fit and reclaim their true nature. Even if they have never lived from this place of authenticity, the therapeutic process can be the catalyst in uncovering, discovering and reclaiming what has always been within them.
I live in Gig Harbor Washington with my husband and basset hound, Winifred. I grew up in New Jersey but moved to the Pacific Northwest 30 years ago when I was a young mother. I now consider the PNW to be my home. In this mystical place, I am on a continuous journey of healing, growth and exploration of my own inner psyche. My evolving is a life-long process. I am a mother of three adult children and one grand-daugther. My family is my love and my inspiration.
I have de-converted from Christianity. I have returned to my ancestral roots and now practice Celtic spirituality and paganism. I consider myself an empath and a mystic. I love connecting to the earth, the elements, the seasons, the world of dreams and Spirit, and the inner world of my intuition.
Training: I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1998 with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have post graduate training from the Couples Institute in Menlo Park, Ca. I am also an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.
I work with women who want to be liberated from patriarchal mindsets, religious trauma, and purity culture teachings, experiences and beliefs and sexual shame (this includes body image negativity and anti-aging mindsets).
I work with women who are going through peri-menopause or are post menopausal and who want to reconnect with their vibrancy, inner fire and deep intuitive wisdom.
